This seems to be an occasional problem with even the biggest Beatle fans.. so here's a list of how to tell! ~~~ !) Experience - the best way to learn is to listen to their songs as much as possible. A horrible price to pay, I know, but I think you'll survive. ;D 2) Listen to the song's in stereo on headphones. 3) watch real Beatles Concert footage OR their movies 4) Look out for little aspects of their accents 5) Make note of their singing voices Paul's voice is very soft, more melodic and he is usually the one with the high notes. John's is a bit deeper and kinda raspy, Ringo has the deepest voice 6) And their styles If it's self-reflective or makes a philosophical statement, it's John (Nowhere Man, All you need is Love) If it's more melodic and uplifting, it's Paul (Yesterday, Getting Better, Good Day Sunshine) Nonsense lyrics are almost always John, while old-style vaudeville numbers are almost always Paul. If it's indian or very obscurely mystical, it's George. Ring, well... he sang what he was told to. Lol. (although, 2 of the ..what 3? songs he wrote.. were children's songs!) 7) Inside the liner notes or songlist for "With The Beatles" through to "Revolver" they tell you who's singing lead and backup... various sites do as well! Happy listening.....!

Thanks! From the age of probably 8, if a Beatles song came on in the car, my daddy would make me tell him who sang it and if I got it right I got a dollar. So I'm pretty good at that game now!

Well, recognizing their voices was never a problem for me since I've been listening to them since I was like a day old. But my roomate just started listening to them when I moved in with her and she seems to think that John and Ringo have some sort of similar quality... ?? And she gets confused with John and George too. But she always knows when it's Paul. He's definitely the really melodic pretty one. Yep.

I guess I would have that problem with the mystical songs, if I didn't know who sang them already.. The only thing I'm confused about who sings what is the A Day in the Life vocals - when someone sings the "Aaaah, aah ah ah, ah ah aaaaah" part.. I think it's John, but some others think it's Paul.

Lol ;D Does she ever get things like "The Inner Light", "Across the Universe", "Love You To", "Tomorrow Never Knows".. confused between John & George? I guess it would be hard for new fans, because George is usually the one with mystical songs..

Yes she does! And so does my mom! *gasp* I couldn't believe it when my mom knew less about them than me! She didn't even believe me that Paul sings Helter Skelter! She assumed John did bc it's so"rock-n-roll-y", and she wouldn't believe me that it was Paul! (My mom doesn't really like Paul at all... )

I'm glad I don't have that problem - my mom loves Paul We went to see him in concert together! However, my mom did think George sang "Imagine" ;D I don't think she's heard that song too much, or she'd know it was John...hopefully. Haha, shove the credits for "Helter Skelter" in her face! That ought to show her who sang it Or make her listen to "About You"..That's a bit "rockish"..
