MOSCOW - Former Beatle Paul McCartney will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin during his brief visit to Moscow for a concert on Red Square, the Russian sponsors of the gig said. "Paul McCartney's concert in Moscow is a major cultural and political event for Russia," the vice-president of Alfa Bank, Alexander Gafin, told Moscow Echo radio Friday. The British musician, whose past hits with the Beatles included "Back in the USSR", is to meet Putin, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov and other top government officials, Gafin said. The presidential administration said it could not confirm the information but did not deny that Putin could greet the rock legend to the Russian capital. McCartney was awarded an honorary doctorate on Thursday by the Saint Petersburg Conservatory, where Pyotr Tchaikovsky and other famous composers studied. ~~ This was in my newspaper today..Along with a pretty pic of Paulie
